|
- Industrial Estates. Kelantan offers
the most reasonable industrial estate land in Malaysia.
The seven (7) major industrial estates include Pengkalan
Chepa, Lundang, Jeli, Tanah Merah, Kemubu and Gua
Musang - all of which are well developed with basic
infrastructure and services to support industrial
ventures. Continuous upgrading of these facilities
are carried out to maintain its competitiveness with
other industrial zones in the country.
-
- Human Resources. Of the total
population, human resource stood at about 768,000

The number is enough to ensure a steady supply of
workers needed by labour intensive industry. The Kelantanese
workforce in general are industrious, hardworking,
loyal, amiable yet tough and resilient; making them
ideal workers. The literacy level in Kelantan is high
and the workforce can easily be trained. Basic wage
in Kelantan is comparatively lower than other parts
of the country.
-
- Transportation
- Roads. A coastal highway links
Kota Bharu, the State Capital of Kelantan to the Federal
Capital of Kuala Lumpur over a distance of 660 km
passing through the state of Terengganu and Pahang.
The Kuantan port in Pahang is just a little less than
5 hours from Kota Bharu.
-
- A shorter and more direct route
through Gua Musang in Southern Kelantan and Pahang
was completed in 1986. Travelling time over the distance
of about 490 km, between Kota Bharu and Kuala Lumpur
has been reduced to 6 hours from the previous 8 hours.
Port Kelang, Malaysia's main port is just 40 km away.
-
- Another highway, the East-West
highway, links Kota Bharu and Penang over a distance
of 365 km. Travelling to Penang, where another Malaysian
port is located, takes only 6 hours.
-
- Air. Kelantan is also linked to
Kuala Lumpur and other major cities like Penang, Alor
Setar and Ipoh by air services. Currently Malaysia
Airlines and Pelangi Air offers several daily flights
between Kota Bharu to and these destinations. The
present schedule offers reliable passenger as well
as cargo services. Flights are serviced mainly by
Boeing 737 aircrafts.
-
- Related Links
- Rail. The National Railway, Keretapi
Tanah Melayu (KTM) links Kota Bharu and the other
towns in Kelantan with Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
Regular cargo services including the transportation
of containers are available to these cities and the
major ports.
-
- Principal railway stations in
Kelantan are in Tumpat, Wakaf Bharu, Pasir Mas, Tanah
Merah, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang. Wakaf Bharu is the
town just across the Kelantan River from Kota Bharu.
-
- Apart from the three major means
of transportation, Kelantan is also serviced by numerous
express bus companies which ply through to all major
cities or towns in the Peninsula. Cargo can also be
