Ask
anyone who has visited Malaysia what impressed them the most,
and the answer is more often than not: "The Food!"
In a country of ethnically diverse cultures, you would certainly
expect a diversity in the foods. Regardless of where you go
in Malaysia, you will find an almost endless variety of foods,
of every type.
As Malaysia is unique in its culture, so are its foods. Combinations
of Chinese, Malay, Indian, Baba-Nyonya and Thai food can be
found almost everywhere you go. From food stalls to restaurants,
Malaysia has an epicurean experience waiting for your arrival.
With
the restrictions imposed in international travel, concerning
the import of food items, it would be next to impossible to
carry many of your favourites home from Malaysia.
To help overcome the disappointment of not being able to taste
your favourite food again soon, or share it with your friends,
we have included 10 recipes for you to try at home.
You should be able to find all ingredients in any market with
an international section or at a local "Oriental Market".
Almost every country in the world has a populace from Southeast
Asia and they often have a market to provide them with items
that otherwise, would not be available. Oriental Markets can
often supply fresh vegetables such as bean sprouts or other
sometimes hard to find spices, flavourings and seasonings.
